The punishment more frequent repeated until last century they were the scourges. The modality of this punishment applied in Barcelona was joining his hardness and the public shame that the convict was exposed. The custom was of Jewish origin that was consisting of walking the convict on a jackass realizing a hundred of stops across a predetermined route, in each of which the convict was receiving so many scourges as hundreds had been a reprobate condemned to 500 lashes was receiving five in every stop of the convict. The women were exempt from lashes, but not neither from the public scorn, nor from the marking.

They could not lower the head, had a hoop that was surrounding the neck that it one was preventing. For limit of humiliations a hood with sleigh-bells fixed to the head for the foreign jeer. The tour Was Going out of the square of the King place of the prison, was crossing the wall and was going down for the street Bòria, which was giving name to the route. It was continuing up to Marcús’s chapel, the street Moncada, and for the street Window to the square of the Pots up to the Pla de Palau. It was returning to enter the city crossing again the wall and it was ascending for Regomir up to Sant Jaume’s square where the assistant of the hangman who was called “estiracordetes” (it stretches litle rope) had a white hot prepared Iron that was marking them. What was staying of the convict, if it was surviving, was deposited again in the jail.
